I was born in Hampshire in 1956, and educated at Price’s in Fareham, and Magdalen College Oxford, where I read Modern History. After leaving university, I worked for a number of international companies, mainly in the UK, but also in Australia and Italy.
I’m now a civil servant; the most interesting thing I’ve done workwise is to spend almost a year in Afghanistan in 2006.
I live in west London, and I read lots of everything - English & foreign literature, crime fiction, history, science, and natural history. I’m a keen walker, birdwatcher and traveller, and I talk, read and write too much.
